BedsOnline are one of Australia’s largest retailers of quality, affordable beds, mattresses and furniture. BedsOnline became Australia’s premium bedroom supplier by satisfying the customer requirement for a one-stop shop for a full selection of brands to suit any budget, preference or taste. To ensure complete customer satisfaction with every purchase, BedsOnline back up their quality products with impeccable customer service. The Problem

Like many flourishing businesses, after many successful years in the industry, BedsOnline decided to re-brand their website.

In order to modernize their image and offer a more responsive website for users, they needed to re-platform their site.

BedsOnline engaged with another agency, entrusting them to carry out the migration of their site. This was executed poorly and unprofessionally, and within days of the migration, BedsOnline experienced a 34% drop in traffic.

With all trust in the agency lost, BedsOnline turned to the team here at DataSauce to repair the damage caused and boost traffic to the site again. The problem needed to be rectified urgently in order to limit the loss in revenue and provide customers with the very best service they could.

THE SOLUTION

Our first step to rectify the damage was to deal with all the broken 404s.

Using tools such as Screaming Frog, our resident SEO experts thoroughly checked the site for broken or misdirected links and corrected them. We then conducted a before and after content analysis to identify problems such as missing content and changes to URLs that were causing Google to crawl and re-index content from scratch. This allowed us to re-create the missing content and return URLs to their original form. As we knew the urgency of this problem, our entire team pulled together to work until gone midnight to carry out damage control and stabilize the site.

Once we had completed the essential damage control, we then moved on to boosting traffic to the site. We began link building with some prestigious sites, including Forbes, with direct links to the site’s “money pages”. We also added fresh content of 1,000 words to more than 50 pages of the site to include prominent keywords and encourage Google to index the new content, improving the site’s ranking.
